Founded in 1904 as the only gallery in the UK devoted to a single artist, Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village offers a unique insight into the life and work of ‘England’s Michelangelo’, G F Watts and his wife, the designer and artist Mary Watts. The Artists’ Village carries on their Art for All legacy across its 18 acre site with its historic and contemporary galleries, Artist in Residence programme, conservation studios, a thriving temporary exhibition programme, an extensive learning and engagement programme in prisons, in the local community and onsite which reflects the Watts’s deep social commitment, the artists’ home and studios, and the masterpiece that is the Watts Chapel and Cemetery.

Watts Gallery Trust is now looking to recruit a Chair of the Board of Trustees and is keen to hear from dynamic and engaged people with a keen interest in supporting our vision of ‘Art for All by All’. The Chair provides leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees and to the Director, supports the staff and ensures that the organisation achieves its objectives. Candidates should demonstrate a strong track record of senior leadership, a passion for arts, culture and heritage and a strong understanding of charity governance. Ideal candidates will have also have excellent business, finance and commercial acumen, the communication skills to be a compelling advocate for the organisation and bring a demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
