CEO

Job Reference FADAHA
Closing Date Monday 04 Feb 2019

West London Mission (WLM) is a Circuit of the Methodist Church which, through WLM Housing and Community Services, engages in and supports social work in the city. Comprising of two churches and a diverse range of services across more than half a dozen locations, it now seeks a new CEO to work with the Superintendent Minister’s leadership of the Circuit.

WLM’s work is rooted in its Christian ethos and 130 year history; it embodies the distinctive Methodist emphasis of socially engaged and transformational service.  There are strong connections between best practice in contemporary social work and WLM’s Christian ethos and WLM is committed to an on-going engagement between the two. The CEO role was created in 2017 as part of a decision to more fully integrate the mission activities of WLM and the worshipping life of the churches and the wider Circuit.

This is an exciting time for the WLM; a new Superintendent Minister, a project with the Pret Foundation and plans for service expansion in the coming few years. There is much to do. Moreover, there is no room for complacency in an increasingly challenging environment for charitable work. The CEO leads a senior management team with a budget of over £2.5m and plays an important role in ensuring the continued success of WLM’s work.

Having recently moved through a process of development, WLM now requires an individual who will be capable of reviewing and enacting an increasingly ambitious strategic agenda. The aim is to do more, which will require a leader who can develop WLM’s capacity, both operational and financial e.g. via improved fundraising. This is an opportunity to offer leadership to an organisation with highly motivated staff and a quality set of services, which is on a positive trajectory. Moreover, it is a chance to be a part of a vibrant community, dedicated to its work and beliefs.

The West London Mission Circuit recognises the enormous benefits of a diverse workforce. We therefore actively and warmly encourage applications from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences. There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a Christian. WLM is committed to the Inclusive Church ethos.
