Executive Director of Operations

Job Reference XWFR
Closing Date Monday 10 Feb 2020

Salary: Competitive
Location: Woking

The world’s leading independent conservation organisation, WWF, would love to meet an exceptional and inspirational Executive Director of Operations with strong commercial awareness, experience in driving a high-performing organisation, clear leadership and a passion for results. When it comes to fighting for our world, mediocre just won’t do.
We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We want people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources to join us in the fight for our world.
We’re really excited about our strategy and you will be instrumental in ensuring we have an appropriate governance model, operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and systems to ensure financial strength, and operational efficiency in order to deliver. You will be responsible for financial stewardship for the Strategic Planning & Performance, Technology and Legal departments.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will direct and lead the day-to-day operations of WWF-UK, sharing responsibility for operational and strategic management, and leadership. You will provide pragmatic guidance and support and be pivotal in the continued implementation of our strategy.
We have big ambitions, so we’re committed to ensuring we have a best-in-class operations department that underpins our ability to make an impact on protecting our world, through our people. Your innovation and vision will aid, support and direct the organisation on the path to long term change.
To play your part in saving our planet, you’ll possess exceptional commercial acumen with a resilient, responsive and transformational leadership style, underpinned by a determined approach.
Logical, persistent and practical you will favour collaboration and possess outstanding interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. We need someone who is strongly people centred, interested in the people who make up our incredible organisation. Diligent and decisive in your approach, you won’t be afraid to draw on others to get the best outcomes.
CIMA/CCAB, MBA or equivalent qualifications as well as an understanding of UK charity law and governance would be an advantage, though not essential.
If you connect with the work we do, are skilled in getting the best from people and have the experience to drive strategy and operations that are best-in-class, then we would love to hear from you.
At WWF-UK we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment, where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and we offer a range of benefits to encourage a work life balance.
