Our client was the special purpose vehicle of a Scottish investment fund, focused on developing wind and solar energy. We were engaged to appoint an inaugural Chair of the vehicle to lead the business through the next phase of its growth and to support the executive team in the governance structure of the business. The final portfolio’s built-out value is estimated to be c.£2 billion when complete.
We sought business leaders with experience of major infrastructure investment, who would help the team raise 3rd party capital and represent the venture at the highest level within industry, government and regulatory bodies. Our search was UK wide and across the power, utilities, and renewables sectors.
Following a rigorous process, and a shortlist of seven individuals, the former Chair of the UK arm of a multinational oil and gas organisation was appointed to the role. In addition to his experience within the energy sector, he brought experience as an angel investor and a breadth of non-executive experience to the post, with the gravitas needed to work with key stakeholders within government and contractors. An additional non-executive Director was hired through our research, who brought a complementary skillset to the Chair having worked in renewables throughout his career.
