Saxton Bampfylde welcomes Mike Hounsell to the consulting team

Saxton Bampfylde is delighted to welcome Mike Hounsell as consultant. Mike joins the growing commercial and public sector practice groups to lead on the firms’ Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs appointments. Mike brings with him 30 years’ marketing, communications and general management experience within leading international and national businesses in the consumer goods, financial services, telecommunications and higher education sectors.

Mike’s most recent role was as Vice President Marketing, Communications, Recruitment and Admissions for the University of Surrey. Prior to this he was Marketing and Sales Director at the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society; Chief Marketing Officer at NTL (now Virgin Media) and Vice President Head of International Charge Card at American Express. He started his career working in the wines and spirits sector in general management at United Distillers (now Diageo) and then 9 years in a series of senior international marketing roles for Allied Domecq (now Pernod Ricard).

He is a believer in leveraging functional skills across different sectors and has built a number of award winning teams in these areas.

He is a former trustee of East Anglia Children’s Hospices where he sat on their Board and fundraising/retail committees.
