After a rigorous and highly competitive recruitment process and supported by Saxton Bampfylde, the Board of Governors have announced the appointment of Mr Simon Hawkes from September 2025 as the 40th Headmaster of Wellingborough School.
An Industrial Design & Technology graduate of Brunel University, as well as holding higher qualifications in Leadership and Management, Simon is currently the First Deputy Head at Headington Rye School in Oxford. Prior to his 10 years at Headington, he spent 12 years at Brighton College as Head of DT and a housemaster. Outside of the classroom, Simon’s wider educational and leadership credentials include being an ISI inspector, governor of both a Preparatory and Primary School, an examination board examiner and moderator, a husband, and a father of three children.
Following the appointment, Wellingborough’s Chair of Governors, Mr Peter Tyldesley, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to appoint Simon as our new Headmaster. The outstanding applicant in a large field of high-quality candidates, we believe that Simon is absolutely the right person to take forward the great work done by Andrew Holman over the past seven years, and to shape and lead the School through the next phase of our development. We very much look forward to welcoming Simon and his family, into our Wellingborough family.”
