Despite the pandemic, momentum on the sustainability agenda continues to gather pace. It is transforming leadership priorities, organisational purpose, strategy, operations and culture across the private, public and civil society sectors. Boards and executive leaders have become louder on the responsibilities of organisations to progress beyond marketing initiatives, reporting and small adjustments, towards significant and meaningful change in their environmental, social and governance agendas.
As we continue to fall behind on many key sustainable development goal targets, leadership needs to be imbued with a fresh sense of urgency and ambition on these issues if they are to retain legitimacy and ensure their organisation’s success. Leaders that can set a tone from the top, geared to the changes required, are in demand, as are the domain experts, who can bring the knowledge, advocacy and change management expertise, that is so needed. Understanding cross sector talent is key, our sustainability practice is therefore well-placed to advise organisations on the importance of identifying the right candidates.
