Emma Hattersley Head of Schools' Practice

Emma has led the Schools’ Practice at Saxton Bampfylde since 2022. Before joining the firm, she spent more than three decades in education, including ten years as Head of an HMC 3–18 day and boarding school. She brings first-hand experience of leadership to every appointment, alongside a deep understanding of governance and accountability.

Emma has worked on a wide range of senior leadership appointments across the UK and internationally, as well as supporting boards with reviews and school hearings. A former school inspector and member of the ISI Advisory Forum, she combines strategic insight with practical judgement. She is also a school governor at both junior and senior level.

Emma read Music at Durham University and completed postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music. She sees her work as contributing to the life chances of young people by securing leaders who help schools flourish.
