Lee Sanders Senior Advisor to the Higher Education Practice

Lee is a Senior Advisor to Saxton Bampfylde’s Higher Education Practice, which he joined following a long career in the sector. He brings over 35 years’ leadership and management experience in higher education. He was Registrar, Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the universities of Birmingham and Durham and held senior roles at the University of Warwick. He has led all major professional services in large, complex global institutions, overseeing finance, HR, estates and facilities, digital, governance, transformation, and student, education and research services.

Lee has held prominent sector roles, including Chair of the Association of Heads of University Administration and Chair of the Universitas 21 global COO network. He is also an experienced external adviser on senior appointments and institutional reviews, a perspective he now brings to the counsel he offers our clients and candidates.

Lee is also part-time Professor of Practice in Leadership, Governance and HE Policy at the University of Birmingham.
