Merchiston International School in Shenzhen has announced the appointment of Dr Murray Tod as their new Headmaster.
Murray brings extensive experience of British boarding schools, most recently in Asia as Headmaster of Epsom College in Malaysia, and in the UK having previously worked at the ‘mother school’ of Epsom College in Surrey for 15 years. Originally from Scotland, Murray brings a deep appreciation of the ethos and values of Merchiston particularly as his mother’s final years as a teacher were at Merchiston Castle School, Edinburgh. With his Edinburgh connections, Murray was attracted to the role by the opportunity to continue the development in Shenzhen of Merchiston International School, MIS, sitting proudly alongside the mother Scottish school.
Dr Tod writes:
“I am absolutely delighted, and very proud, to have been appointed as the next Head of Merchiston International School. It is a privilege to be allowed this opportunity to develop my affinity with Merchiston values and to build upon the superb work of the school community in the opening years of MIS… Although originally a ‘man of Edinburgh’, my educational outlook has been forged in the broader UK and Malaysian boarding school systems, and I will always look to boarding communities to achieve the greatest impact on young peoples’ learning and outlook.”
