The Childhood Trust, London’s child poverty charity, has appointed Jo Barclay as its new Director of Development.
The Childhood Trust funds projects that support children and young people to alleviate the impact of poverty and disadvantages arising such as hunger, homelessness, stress, loneliness and anxiety. The trust’s funding supports young people from across London and is aimed at engaging 800,00 of the most disadvantaged children in the poorest communities.
Jo joins the trust from Shelter UK, where she spent six years, most recently as Head of Philanthropy and High Value Events. Jo started her career in marketing and PR in the commercial retail sector, before transitioning across to the not for profit sector in a PR and Communications role with Girlguiding UK. From there, Jo worked in corporate partnerships roles with Macmillan, The Scout Association and in a variety of senior fundraising roles with Shelter. This breadth, and strength in fundraising will be a great asset to the Childhood Trust as they continue to grow and positively impact the lives of more children in London.
