There are not many forums where university leaders can speak with real candour about the pressures they face. Last week, Eugenia Gonzalez, our Head of Higher Education Practice, hosted an evening that tried to be one of them.
A group of Vice-Chancellors came together alongside Sir David Eastwood and Lee Sanders, both senior advisors to our firm, to speak honestly about the challenges facing the sector. What struck us most was the tone: no defensiveness, no retreating to talking points, just a genuine willingness to sit with difficult questions and think creatively about what comes next. The commitment to keeping universities transformative forces for good came through clearly, and so did the hunger to innovate.
Saxton Bampfylde's Higher Education Practice works with universities across the sector on executive search, helping institutions find the leadership they need at moments that matter. If you are considering a senior appointment, we would be glad to have a conversation.
