
The Welding Institute (TWI) has announced the appointment of Serkan Canpolat as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). In this new role, Serkan will oversee risk management across the organisation, reporting to the CEO with a dotted line to the Audit Committee in order to strengthen governance and resilience.
Serkan brings a broad international background in risk management, governance, audit, and operations, with more than two decades of experience in senior roles at B.P. and, more recently, advising organisations on business transformation, risk management, and resilience.
His appointment reflects TWI’s commitment to its three overarching strategic priorities: Achieving financial stability and growth, driving leadership and cultural improvement, and Enabling a long-term, sustainable strategy.
As CRO, Serkan will ensure risk management is embedded across the organisation, supporting our ‘One TWI’ ethos and reinforcing confidence among Members, stakeholders, and clients. His work will strengthen our leadership and focus on global and strategic priorities.
The creation of this role also aligns with the governance review currently underway, ensuring that TWI is well-placed to adapt to change while delivering long-term value to Members and partners worldwide.
