To mark UK Disability History Month 2022, Alex Richmond, the head of Saxton Bampfylde’s healthcare practice, and our non-executive advisor Helen Buckingham, the Director of Strategy at the Nuffield Trust had the privilege of having a conversation with Tracy Allen, CEO of Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS FT, and Kate Smyth, NED at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT, who is also co-Chair of the Disabled NHS Directors Network.

We were delighted to be joined by these inspirational NHS leaders who have declared disabilities, to talk about their experience within the NHS and their broader reflections. The conversation was wide-ranging, but focused on the question – why visibility for disabled leaders matters, and how do you create organisational cultures to enable this?
