Antony Gormley is widely acclaimed for his sculptures, installations and public artworks that investigate the relationship of the human body to space. His work has been exhibited throughout the UK and internationally with exhibitions at major museums across the world. Antony Gormley Studio is now seeking a Studio Director, to lead the studio team of around 60 people across four sites. Gormley’s ambition for the future is to make more permanent projects and continue the critically acclaimed placemaking work that is at the heart of his practice.

The Studio Director will ensure the studio’s financial stability by maintaining and evolving relationships with their trusted commercial galleries, and other key stakeholders including museums and collectors. The Studio Director will provide the strategy and leadership that will foster a culture of collaboration and creativity in which new ways of working and making can flourish. Responsibilities will include driving strategic and creative planning opportunities with Antony Gormley and the senior team, and ensuring the studio’s short, medium and long-term strategy. A key part of the role will be translating this strategy into an efficient operational plan and delivery. The successful candidate will have senior leadership experience and a track record of working successfully with creatives. They will be strategic and practical, with an ability to be hands on and detailed as well as having a broader overview. Excellent communication skills will be key, with an ability maintain relationships across the commercial and not-for-profit art worlds. The ability to lead and inspire a team of hands-on makers and creatives, will be critical. This role will suit someone practical with great communication and leadership skills, with low ego and a love for contemporary art.
