MHA (Methodist Homes) is one of the UK’s largest charitable care providers, with a proud 80-year heritage and a mission to help people live later life well. Each year, we support over 18,000 older people across 75 care homes, 59 retirement living communities, and through community-based services that tackle loneliness and isolation. As a Board Member, you will play a central role in MHA’s strategic direction, overseeing good governance, financial stewardship, and risk management. Working closely with our Chair, your fellow Trustees, and the Executive Leadership Team, you will support the delivery of our mission while championing our values of compassionate care, respect and inclusion. Responsibilities include contributing to Board and sub-committee meetings, monitoring strategic objectives, visiting services to understand frontline impact, and ensuring MHA continues to be a sector role model.
We are seeking an experienced, values-driven leader with high levels of integrity to complement our existing Board, we are particularly interested in candidates with executive-level experience as a Chief Financial Officer or an equivalent financial leadership background. We warmly encourage applications from individuals from a broad diversity of backgrounds, reflecting the communities we serve, and people with a passion for improving later life.
This is a voluntary role with reasonable expenses reimbursed. The expected time commitment is approximately 12–18 days per year, including six annual Board meetings (a mix of virtual and in-person), participation in a sub-committee, and occasional task-and-finish groups. The term of office is three years, renewable up to a maximum of nine years.
