Capital Enterprise is the UK’s start-up expert, connecting and energising a world-class entrepreneurship ecosystem, supporting a vision is to make the UK the best place in the world to start and scale a business.

Capital Enterprise is a body of connectors, influencers, investors and policymakers, collaborating to serve and super-charge start-ups and their supporters. The organisation has around 60 staff and current income of almost £6m. With bases in London and Sheffield, the team works nationally to facilitate growth of the UK’s start-up ecosystem, raising investment, supporting early-stage businesses and founders and helping to create high value jobs.

In 2021, Capital Enterprise helped over 1,310 start-ups, raise £125m of private sector investment and subsequently created over 350 new jobs.

The board are now seeking to appoint a new CEO who will lead with a clear passion for organisation’s mission as a connector and collaborator for the UK’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a clear strategic direction for the organisation as it enters the next phase in its evolution. Working with the leadership team, they will lead a collaborative and expert workforce to ensure Capital Enterprise has the operating foundations to support its continued growth and impact; developing future funding models and building on its significant reputation as an important and influential voice in the UK’s start-up sector.

Good candidates will bring well-rounded leadership experience at a senior level. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of developing organisations commercially and operationally. An understanding of and commitment to the UK’s vibrant start-up sector is key. The strongest candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to act as a key ambassador, engaging with a broad range of stakeholder across industry leaders, policy makers, and partners across both the public and private sectors. Finally, they must also demonstrate a commitment to the Capital Enterprise’s vision and have a deep understanding of sustainability, diversity and inclusion.
