Livability

Trustees

Job Reference UAGAHE
Closing Date Monday 10 Jan 2022

At Livability, every day we seek to improve the quality of life for children, young people and adults with disabilities, so they can live a life that adds up for them.

What makes life livable is never down to just one thing – it’s the sum of many things. From friendship to fun; from companionship to community; from a great chat to a challenge overcome – it all adds up to Livability. Through a wide range of disability care, special education, and rehabilitation services, we promote inclusion and wellbeing for all. Together, we work to see people take part, contribute and be valued. We put the elements in place that all add up to connected lives.

Inspired by the Christian faith, our vision is of a barrier-free society where all people can flourish and enjoy full participation. We strive to grow community connections that help people thrive and we tackle barriers that impact disabled people, to enable better participation for all.

We are now looking for a number of new Trustees to join us and contribute to our future direction. We are keen to consider several areas of expertise and understanding including, but not limited to:

  • Safeguarding of children and adults;
  • Information Technology and/or media-related skills (+ social media);
  • Service delivery relating to disabilities or special education;
  • Para-legal, estates management, quantity surveyor, HR specialist;
  • Personal knowledge and experience of disability.

Importantly, we are also in the process of thinking about our next Chair – our Vice Chair will be stepping up over the next 18 months, following which, we are keen to appoint a committed, collaborative Trustee who brings understanding of good governance and strategic experience working at board level in a significant organisation to take up the role.

Reflecting the diverse communities we work with and support, we are committed to building a board dedicated to furthering diversity and inclusion within the charity. We actively and warmly encourage applications therefore from a broad and deep range of backgrounds and experiences.

We put the things in place that add up to living well.
