Closing Date Wednesday 05 Apr 2023

Ranked in the top 100 universities globally and as the most targeted university by the UK’s leading employers according to The Graduate Market 2022, the University of Manchester is a thriving institution. It is the largest single-site university in the UK with the biggest student community and more than 12,000 staff. We are ranked among the leading research universities globally and have pioneering research collaborations with the likes of AstraZeneca and Siemens. The University is now looking to appoint two Lay Members to its Board of Governors. As the University’s governing body, the Board has ultimate responsibility for the University’s overall strategic direction and for the management of its finances.

The University is seeking individuals who will bring a breadth of experience at a senior level, alongside knowledge of complex governance from the public, private or third sectors. Based on an assessment of current and future skills needs, the University is looking to build capacity, knowledge and experience in relation to the property/real estate and innovation/enterprise sectors. We welcome expressions of interest from those who have experience of operating in organisations of similar scale and complexity to the University, together with a keen interest in and empathy for Higher Education. Being based in the North West is advantageous though not a prerequisite. The University particularly welcomes applications from underrepresented groups.
