Intensive Care National Audit & Research Centre (ICNARC)

The Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) is an independent, not-for-profit, scientific organisation which has led the world in the provision of critical care audit and research for over 30 years. Our work helps improve the quality of critical care through audit, research, and education, conducted with, and in the interests of, patients and those who care for them.

We are now looking to appoint a new Director to lead the organisation through the next chapter of its development. The Director will be responsible for setting ICNARC’s strategic direction, working with colleagues on its delivery, and providing leadership to the wider team. The Director will also be responsible for managing critical external relationships, acting as ICNARC’s ambassador to a range of stakeholders across academia, government, healthcare, and others, both in the UK and internationally.

Successful candidates will have a proven ability to deliver, disseminate and attract a programme of science (encompassing both audit and research) of national and international impact. A strong scientific track record will be key, together with experience of successful strategic leadership, and the ability to engage and lead the organisation in a way that is authentic, collaborative, and decisive. The appointee will need to combine scientific vision with business acumen and embrace ICNARC’s values, fostering a people-orientated culture that results in an inclusive, vibrant and high-performing organisation.
