Christ College Brecon

Head

Job Reference LBVTA
Closing Date Tuesday 16 Sep 2025 (Now Expired)

Set in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, Christ College seeks an inspiring Head to lead one of Wales’s most respected independent schools. Founded by Henry VIII in 1541, the College combines strong academic results with excellent pastoral care and an outstanding co-curricular programme. The recent Estyn report highlighted pupils who “leave as well-rounded individuals with strong examination results.”

This is a genuine opportunity to shape the future of a thriving community of 400 pupils aged 4-18. The successful candidate will lead exciting developments including international partnerships, prep school expansion, and the award-winning outdoor education programme. With supportive governors, dedicated staff, and excellent facilities, the next Head will build on solid foundations whilst driving forward the College’s vision.

The Head will work closely with the governing body on strategic planning whilst maintaining the College’s strong academic standards and distinctive character. Key responsibilities include overseeing both senior and prep schools, managing boarding provision, and acting as chief ambassador for the College. This role requires someone who can balance educational leadership with business acumen, ensuring financial sustainability alongside continued excellence.

We seek a leader who values both tradition and innovation, understanding that education is about developing character alongside academic achievement. If you’re committed to helping young people flourish in a remarkable setting, we would welcome your application.
