Edinburgh Art Festival is the UK’s largest annual festival of visual art, and a leading international platform for supporting the development, production and presentation of ambitious new work by artists working in Scotland, the UK and internationally. Each year the Festival works in partnership with Scotland’s visual arts sector, to present a rich and varied programme of exhibitions, publicly sited commissions and events, the vast majority of which is free at the point of access. Edinburgh Art Festival is committed to sharing the very best visual art with audiences locally, nationally and internationally. Partnership is at the core of the Festival’s model, and critical to the development and delivery of the charity’s ambitions.

The Board of Edinburgh Art Festival are seeking an exceptional and visionary candidate for the post of Director. This is a key leadership role responsible for conceiving and delivering an excellent artistic vision, commercial development, strategy, planning and management. Candidates will be creative, commercially minded, innovative, strategic and entrepreneurial, with an appetite for unusual and challenging projects. The post-holder must possess strong financial acumen, proven leadership skills as well as an excellent track record in fundraising. They must also come with a passion for, and commitment to, promoting the visual arts across new and diverse audiences/communities throughout Scotland. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills will be critical.
