Founded over 65 years ago, Gleaner is an established energy distributer and one of Scotland’s leading family businesses. With an extensive network of 10 depots across Scotland, Gleaner is based in Elgin, Moray, and serves a wide range of commercial industries as well as serving the domestic heating marketing, including the running of a dynamic network of 50 filing stations and retail outlets, 13 of which, are owned and operated under the Gleaner brand.

With a distinctive family ethos Gleaner is currently run by the third generation of the Young family, who remain committed to providing excellent customer service and a strongly values-driven culture. Gleaner operates 365 days a year with a dedicated workforce of 170 people, with a presence across 23 locations in Scotland, including reaching some of Scotland’s remotest communities.

Gleaner now seek a Finance Director to be responsible for the day to day running of the company’s finance department and accounting activities. Reporting to the Managing Director and Board of Directors, they will be a dynamic and driven individual with strong strategic nous and commercial acumen to help steer Gleaner into the future. They will bring a solid working knowledge of risk and be comfortable working externally with investors, partners, and stakeholders. They will bring a strong appreciation of compliance and governance, including providing robust and coherent reports and forecasts.

The next Finance Director will be a well-rounded finance professional with an energetic and natural inclination to “roll up their sleeves”, as part of a small, high-calibre team. Ultimately, their core capability as a Finance Director will need to be combined with a deep interest in and commitment to working and living in Scotland and engaging with the local community. The role will be based in Elgin, Moray.
