Hawkins\Brown is one of the UK’s leading architectural practices, widely recognised for its creative and collaborative approach to design across multiple sectors including education, workplace, residential, infrastructure and transport, civic, community and culture. The practice’s approach places people at the heart of everything they do, from their design philosophy through to the way they run their studios. Hawkins\Brown’s talented architectural, urban and interior designers bring a fresh and collaborative approach to every project, creating places with a social and contextual response that actively engage with people and their surroundings.

The firm has continued to enjoy sustainable growth. Today the practice operates through five studios in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Dublin and LA, generating an annual turnover of over £30m with a team of over 300. The team is increasingly winning international work with projects in Europe and North America. In response to this exciting growth, and as part of an ongoing desire to improve their systems and strengthen the firm’s financial performance, the practice is looking to appoint a new Finance Director.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall financial management of the practice, driving effective reporting and sustainable operational efficiency to support the commercial oversight of a global project portfolio. They will be a strong business leader, with an appreciation of the commercial drivers inherent in a professional services business and a creative-first environment: their sound technical expertise and commercial ability will be balanced by an inherent creativity and values-driven leadership. The ability to operate as a strategic business partner will be key: strong candidates will understand how to work collaboratively in applying their financial and commercial know-how across the wider practice.  With high emotional intelligence and impactful leadership skills they will lead the finance function in line with the organisation’s business plan, culture and values.
