Health & Care Professions Council

Executive Director of Professional Practice, Insight and Communications

Job Reference XBGCB
Closing Date Thursday 16 Mar 2023 (Now Expired)

The HCPC protects the public, by regulating 15 health and care professions in the UK. We set the standards for their education and training, their professional skills, conduct, performance and ethics and their continuing professional development as well as keeping a Register of the professionals who meet these standards. We approve the education programmes that professionals must complete prior to registration and take action when registrants do not meet our standards. Our work is critical in ensuring that the public can retain high confidence in the support and care they receive.

We are now looking for an inspirational leader to take on the role of our next Executive Director of Professional Practice, Insight and Communications. This role will lead the development and implementation of the organisation’s work plans in relation to policy and standards as well as our prevention work that seeks to prevent harm from occurring in the first place. This person will also lead HCPC’s data and insights strategy, ensuring it supports public protection, enables agile, evidence-based regulation, supports our strategic objectives, and meets the needs of both internal and external stakeholders, as well as lead our internal and external communications – ensuring our communication is clear, effective, engaging, compassionate and tailored to the audience as appropriate.

For you to succeed, you will be an ambitious and resilient leader with proven track record as a senior leader in an organisation of similar complexity, with clear evidence of relevant contribution and delivery at a strategic level. You will bring an in-depth knowledge of policy environments or policy related roles at a senior/executive level and an understanding of regulation. You will have the personal authority and credibility to influence and build effective internal and external stakeholder relationships, engendering their trust and confidence. You will exemplify a culture of accountability, high engagement, effective decision making, and people centred leadership, underpinned by clear conviction in our purpose and values.

HCPC’s goal is to be recognised as an actively anti-discriminatory organisation that upholds and promotes best practice in equality, diversity and inclusion, and an active ally for change. We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workplace and strongly encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join the HCPC.
