Independent Non-Executive Directors

Job Reference QAOKL
Closing Date Monday 10 Jul 2023 (Now Expired)

MOSL is the market operator for the world’s largest competitive water market which opened in April 2017, enabling 1.2 million business customers to choose who supplies their water and wastewater services.   MOSL is responsible for the smooth running of the market, enabling new companies to enter the market, customers to switch retailers and settlement to take place between wholesalers and retailers (who are members of MOSL and also known as trading parties).

As market operator we manage the central IT systems and act as the custodian of central market data, providing data insight to the market and our members. We also play a key role in monitoring the performance of trading parties, ensuring that they are meeting their obligations under the market rules.

We also provide secretariat services to the Strategic Panel – the market’s most senior industry group – and its committees, and work with our members and key stakeholders, such as Ofwat and Defra, to drive improvement in the market at both a strategic and operational level.

Our improvement programmes are set out in our rolling three-year business plan, which is approved annually by our members.

MOSL is looking to appoint two independent non-executive directors (NEDs). One role will Chair the Data and Digital Committee and one role will Chair the Remuneration Committee. NEDs share the collective responsibility of all Board members for ensuring that the Board of MOSL is successful and effective in setting and implementing an appropriate strategy, and that it remains focused on the key issues facing the industry.

For one of the positions, MOSL is specifically looking for experience in digital, information security, data management, cyber, cross industry systems, and/or cloud strategy. For the other position, experience in legal, HR, strategy and/or business change would all be beneficial. For both roles, a good understanding of the commercial, governance and regulatory issues in a regulated industry would be helpful. Previous NED experience is not essential.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to MOSL on these appointments. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference QAOKL. Alternatively telephone +44 (0)20 7227 0880 (during office hours). Applications should be received by noon on Monday 10th July 2023.
