National Gallery Global Ltd

Chief Commercial Officer

Job Reference ENTH
Closing Date Wednesday 15 Mar 2023 (Now Expired)

The National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of paintings in the world. These pictures belong to the public and entrance to see them is free. Millions of people visit the National Gallery every year and many more are reached online. The Gallery is committed to being a place of learning and enjoyment, and a source of inspiration for this and future generations. The National Gallery is currently looking ahead to its bicentenary in 2024 (NG200) with plans for an exciting programme of exhibitions and events across the UK, alongside a suite of capital projects that will significantly improve the Gallery’s buildings and services for the people who visit now and those who will in the future.

We have a unique platform to drive growth across all our commercial activity where the brand and heritage of the National Gallery offer substantial opportunity. Against this backdrop, we are looking for an inspiring Chief Commercial Officer to lead a step change in growth at National Gallery Global Ltd, the arms-length commercial entity, wholly owned by the Gallery, which drives all its commercial activities.

Seizing this exciting moment, the Chief Commercial Officer will shape and implement an ambitious growth plan that the Gallery is committed to resourcing. Working closely with the Director of the Gallery, the wider leadership team, and the Chair of the National Gallery Global Board, you will lead and develop a wide-ranging commercial portfolio that includes physical and online retail, food and beverage, membership, licensing, ticketing, commercial events, and publishing. Levers for growth include the remaking of the Sainsbury Wing which will offer new F&B and retail configurations and an extensive House for supporters and members in the original gallery.

Central to the National Gallery Global plan is the aspiration that every touch point on the guest journey, digital or physical, from before the guest arrives to after they leave is elevated: the overall experience must be an excellent one, laying down happy memories and driving return visits. To this end the successful applicant will, in addition to overseeing the Company’s activities play a leading role in the Gallery’s Marketing, CRM and Data Insight functions.

This is an exciting and significant leadership role at the heart of the Gallery. Whether you are from a retail, hospitality, membership, or another background, you will bring experience of successfully leading and delivering commercial strategies. You will have the relationship skills to lead a high performing team and engage and collaborate across the Gallery as a whole.
