Power to Change
CEO

Power to Change supports communities to create businesses that improve the lives and livelihoods of local people. As our inaugural CEO leaves us after seven years, we are looking for an exceptional, strategic leader.
Our mission is to strengthen community businesses to tackle some of society’s biggest challenges at a local level, including the three biggest challenges of our time: climate change, digital transformation, and social inequalities.
Since 2015, Power to Change has been at the forefront of supporting community-led action. We have invested over £100m in supporting over 1200 organisations across England. Alongside this, we have collected evidence on the impact of community businesses, influenced government and others in positions of power to recognise the value of community-led action and built sector partnerships and alliances to amplify our impact.
Power to Change was established with a seven year remit, with an endowment from The National Lottery Community Fund. Responding to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we realised that community businesses needed us now more than ever. Based on our track record of delivering impact, we received a further £20m from NLCF which enabled us to set out our next five-year strategy to continue supporting the sector.
As our next CEO, you will be passionate about social change and bring understanding of the communities’ agenda. Working with our Board, you will be a compelling communicator, capable of building partnerships and networks, using your good commercial acumen with a diverse range of stakeholders. This will include increasing income from a range of sources and influencing to create lasting change to policy. You will also empower our small, inclusive team to develop and succeed in our post-Covid strategy, and importantly, will lead with our values of being open, collaborative, informed and bold.
