Quadrant Chambers, one of the UK’s preeminent barristers’ sets, is seeking to appoint a new Chief Operating Officer (COO).  Working closely with the Head of Chambers, the Management Committee and its Chair, the COO will lead the professional and operational functions which support Chambers, and ensure the highest level of service is delivered.  They will play a vital role in developing a highly collegiate and committed culture, maintaining Quadrant’s reputation as a down-to-earth and welcoming set.

Quadrant consists of around 70 barristers, including 27 King’s Counsel, and 25 support staff. As one of the leading international commercial disputes sets, its members bring particular expertise in the areas of aviation, banking, commercial disputes, commodities, energy, insurance, international arbitration and shipping.

Its barristers strive to provide a service that is aligned with the concerns and priorities of the business world, and to deliver exceptional value and support in its relationships with law firms and clients.

The successful candidate will play broad and pivotal leadership role. They will provide strategic leadership while understanding the individual operational needs of each barrister; they will lead the provision of internal services, developing a high-performing team, whilst working closely with the Head of Chambers to oversee the pastoral issues of the set. Finally, the COO will also help to drive and enhance Quadrant’s brand and reputation externally,  liaising with the various and relevant professional bodies.

Strong candidates will have occupied a senior, if not the senior, executive role in a professional services organization, with responsibility for development and implementation of strategy. Experience and a successful track record in developing professional services businesses is desirable. Candidates not from the legal sector will demonstrate a keenness to get up to speed on issues facing the profession and the Bar.
