Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Chief Scientist
We are the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the professional membership body for pharmacists and pharmacy. We promote pharmacy in the media and government, lead the way in medicines information, and support pharmacists in their education and development. As science, evidence and research are at the centre of our profession, for us to deliver effectively on behalf of pharmacists and pharmacy, science must also be at the heart of what we do.
We are now looking for an exceptional individual to join as our new Chief Scientist. Recognised as an authoritative commentator, you will speak on behalf of the RPS about science in the media, to Governments and policy makers, and wherever medicines are being discussed. You will work across teams to improve how we support members and the wider profession with a focus on science, ensuring science informs our strategic direction and mission to put pharmacy at the forefront of healthcare.
The successful candidate will bring senior-level experience, and a broad appreciation of pharmaceutical science. With a national reputation for research, you will bring academic credibility combined with an understanding of how science and health policy interact. With the ability to communicate effectively across multiple audiences, you will act as ambassador externally, whilst having the strategic thinking abilities to help shape our strategic approach. The role will be for two days a week, which can be worked flexibly and remotely, or be based in our offices across the UK.
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is serious about inclusion and diversity, both for our members and within our own organisation. We are committed to making inclusion and diversity central to the profession, celebrating and encouraging diverse voices across pharmacy.
