St Catherine’s College is one of the 39 colleges that make up the University of Oxford. It was established as a College in 1962 and it is the newest of the colleges that admit both undergraduates and graduates. It has grown to be the largest, comprising a total student body of over 1000 students with just over 500 undergraduates, the same number of graduate students and 50 visiting students. The original buildings (1962-67), widely considered to be the masterpiece of the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen, were among the first five post-war buildings to be listed Grade I. The College’s motto is ‘Nova et Vetera’ (‘The New and the Old’) and it prides itself on maintaining the best features of the Oxford collegiate tradition with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, openness to creativity and innovation.
