Terrence Higgins Trust

Chair, Board of Trustees

Job Reference KUTHC
Closing Date Wednesday 21 May 2025 (Now Expired)

Location: London

Remuneration: Unremunerated / Expenses covered

Terrence Higgins Trust – the UK’s leading HIV charity – is searching for a new Chair of its Board of Trustees. Their track record through five decades of the epidemic is second to none, whether it is changing laws, supporting people to live with the virus or getting the UK Prime Minister to test for HIV in front of the world’s media.

This opportunity comes at a significant moment to join the charity, in delivering their mission to end new cases of HIV in the UK by 2030. While it is not without its challenges, the UK is in pole position to be the first country to end the epidemic and has all the tools needed to make it happen. The UK, with the support and encouragement of the Terrence Higgins Trust, needs to use those tools to find across the UK the 5,150 people with undiagnosed HIV and support the 14,000 diagnosed people not taking their life-saving medication to do so again. We cannot fail. Terrence Higgins Trust will not stop until it has been achieved, it has the strategy in place – could you help get this strategy into action and the goal over the line?

Terrence Higgins Trust is committed to a world where HIV holds no one back and will work until the last person living with HIV no longer needs their support, to eradicate stigma and reduce health inequalities, particularly for those disproportionately impacted by HIV; gay and bisexual men who have sex with men and people of Black African ethnicity.

It is against this backdrop that Terrence Higgins Trust is looking forward to welcome to its Board of Trustees a passionate individual to succeed the current Chair. They will have strategic leadership experience, strong and broad networks, an enthusiasm for fundraising for vital resource, passion for its campaigning work, and the ability to support staff and volunteers to help maximise the impact and influence of the charity. The Board particularly welcomes applications from individuals with lived experience of HIV.
