The Ethos Foundation

Trustee

Job Reference CBTVA
Closing Date Monday 19 May 2025 (Now Expired)

The Ethos Foundation is a bold, dynamic family foundation with a clear mission: to help end child poverty in the UK. We’re spending down our £60m endowment by 2035, with a sharp focus on transforming the systems that surround children and families—especially in the crucial early years.

We are now looking for a committed and passionate Trustee to join our small but ambitious Board. This is a unique opportunity to shape our ten-year strategy and maximise our impact over the life of the Foundation.

As a Trustee, you will help steer our strategy and governance, ensuring alignment with our mission and values. You’ll contribute to financial oversight, including annual budgeting and risk management, and act as an advocate and ambassador for our work.

We are looking for someone who shares our deep commitment to building effective, preventative systems that break the cycles of poverty. You will bring strategic oversight experience, whether on a non-profit board or executive team, and will demonstrate empathy, sound judgement, and alignment with our values of fairness, good citizenship, and reflectiveness. You’ll be a thoughtful collaborator who is willing to get stuck in and help shape our future.

We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in early childhood development, understanding of strategic philanthropy, including grant-making and investing for social impact, strategic communications and advocacy, or impact investment and social finance. However, we also welcome applications from people with lived experience of the issues we’re tackling, or from those who bring a fresh perspective from another sector. If you’re excited by our mission but don’t meet every aspect of the person specification, we still encourage you to apply.

If you’re ready to help shape a future where all children, regardless of background, have the opportunity to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.
