Versus Arthritis

Too many people accept the daily pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis causes as ‘just a bit of arthritis’. But we don’t. Versus Arthritis was created in 2018, following the merger of Arthritis Research UK and Arthritis Care. From the beginning, our driving ambition was to demand and deliver better answers for people with arthritis. From driving world-leading research to challenging and influencing Government to get the big decisions right, to working with people with arthritis and our supporters, we are making real headway. But there’s still a long way to go, and we won’t stop until no-one has to tolerate living with the crippling effects of arthritis.

Our organisation is undergoing a period of significant change, which makes for an exciting time to join us as a Trustee, as we build the strength of our Board in key areas. We are seeking a Trustee with strong and relevant expertise and leadership experience in Health and Social Care commissioning and delivery, who can support our work in developing and delivering commissioned services. You will bring breadth of senior clinical and commissioning experience, alongside a strategic and operational understanding of Integrated Care Systems, engaging with the NHS, private healthcare, local authorities and charities, and of patient pathways.

We are looking for someone who can challenge our thinking on the role of commissioning to support income generation and our wider organisational strategy. Candidates should be strong communicators with high emotional intelligence, who will work collaboratively with our Organisational Leadership Team and other Trustees. Importantly, we are looking for someone with a strong commitment to our work and mission, our values and our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) principles.
