The United Synagogue

Chief Executive

Job Reference UBEMA
Closing Date Monday 12 Sep 2022

At the United Synagogue our mission is to engage Jews with Orthodox living, learning and caring.

We have been serving our membership and the broader orthodox Jewish community in the United Kingdom since 1870. Today, we support more than 37,000 members and thousands of children in 56 communities across England, providing a broad range of services throughout their lives. We employee around 800 people across our sites and last year had income of around £42m. Our work is vast and varied, and we are responsible for much of the religious infrastructure which allows British Jews to freely practice their religion, whether they are members of ours or not.

It is an exciting time for a new Chief Executive to join the United Synagogue. With a firm foundation set and a strong, experienced senior leadership team in place, the new Chief Executive will be key in taking forward the strategy to ensure that the United Synagogue continues to develop and evolve to support our communities now and in the future.

We are looking for an exceptional leader with substantial senior management experience within significant and complex organisations, who will inspire our staff, members, volunteers, and our wider communities. The new Chief Executive will bring strong strategic and stakeholder management skills, business acumen, and a proven track record in working collaboratively and in leading new initiatives.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join us in a highly influential leadership role. Our work is at once diverse, complex, challenging and highly rewarding. If you think this could be of interest, we would love to hear from you.

The United Synagogue recognises the strengths of a diverse leadership team, so we are keen to hear from candidates who bring diversity of thought, experience, and background to our organisation.
