Closing Date: Monday 29 October

The Pilgrim Trust was established 88 years ago and today gives grants totalling approximately three million pounds each year to charities and other public bodies. Sixty percent of funding is directed towards projects aimed at preserving the fabric of architecturally or historically important buildings, or projects working to preserve historically significant artefacts or documents. The other forty percent of funding is allocated towards social welfare needs, with a current focus on projects that help women and girls, with a specific interest in early interventions that address their needs before these become too deep rooted.

The Pilgrim Trust is now looking for exceptional candidates with experience in the social sector to join the board. Trustees take an active interest and part in the grant making of the Trust to charitable organisations. Candidates will bring experience within the social sector and will be able to contribute strategically to the broader organisation as a member of the board.  Knowledge of the role of the voluntary sector would be desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an organisation that makes a difference to the historic and social fabric of society. Trustees help to allocate funding in innovative ways; they might provide initial funding to get a project started so that an organisation can reach a point where it can apply for major grants, or be the first funder when the case appears to be hopeless but there is a chance of encouraging others. Trustees meet four times every year alongside site visits to projects the Trust supports from time to time.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to the Pilgrim Trust on this appointment. For further information about the role, including details about how to apply, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference BABAZA. Applications should be received by noon Monday 29 October.
