London; six figure package
There are an estimated 450,000 problem gamblers in the UK today, and addiction to gambling impacts an increasing number of individuals and their families, with devastating and often tragic consequences. Action against Gambling Harms (AGH) is a brand new, independent organisation that aims to eliminate problem gambling from society. Having secured £100 million for the first four years of its existence alone, the charity will fund world-leading projects in research, preventative education and treatment.
With the search underway to identify its inaugural Chair, AGH is now looking to appoint a Chief Executive. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to lead the creation of a new charity, which will have a significant and positive impact on people’s lives.
The Chief Executive will work with the Chair to create and lead AGH, shaping its organisational design and processes, and creating a strong culture of integrity and independence from the gambling sector. The Chief Executive will lead the Executive team, ensuring it fulfils its operational responsibilities for the day-to-day running of the charity. They will also work with the Chair and Board to set the vision and strategy for AGH.
Candidates will bring senior leadership skills, ideally gained in a grant-making organisation, and experience of building and leading high-performing teams. With exceptional intellect and communication skills, you will have experience of working closely with a Board and with senior stakeholders externally. You will bring experience overseeing significant financial management responsibilities, and knowledge of how to articulate a vision and deliver that through a complex organisation. Whatever the Chief Executive’s background, s/he will bring a strong commitment to AGH’s mission. The Chief Executive must not have any connection with the gambling sector.
