Affinity Trust is a national charity that provides life-changing support to over 1,000 people living with learning disabilities. Established in 1991 and driven by social purpose, the organisation has grown from an income of £7 million in 2004 to £55 million today, delivering safe and high-quality services across England and Scotland. Affinity Trust operates in a dynamic environment, and it’s the responsibility of the Chair and Board to ensure that the charity operates with a strong commercial edge.

Affinity Trust is now looking for a new Chair to provide leadership to the Board. The Chair ensures Board members fulfil their duties to the charity, setting its strategic direction and upholding its core values. The Chair will also play a key role in supporting, and where appropriate, challenging the CEO and ensuring the Board effectively partners with the executive team.

The ideal candidate will bring commercial awareness and general business acumen, gained as a senior executive and non-executive in a commercial or public setting. S/he will have the ability to listen and engage effectively with key stakeholders. Experience of leading an organisation operating in a complex environment is essential, as is a strong empathy for the mission and values at the centre of Affinity Trust.
