Are you an outstanding, committed leader in international development with the experience to implement and manage a complex £50 million annual programme of projects and global policy initiatives?

We are looking for an experienced, inspiring leader who will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of  £50 million + annual programme of development projects and the work of four policy teams.

As well as raising money for CARE’s humanitarian and development work around the world, we provide expertise and leadership in the key areas of humanitarian response, private sector engagement, governance, and empowering women and girls.

The Programme and Policy, Executive Director will be joining at an exciting and critical time and will have an exceptional opportunity to make a big difference.  As part of the Senior Management Team reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide leadership to the Executive Directorate and contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategy and effective cross-organisational work.  You will hold an important voice in shaping and influencing organisational thinking, policy and operations within the CI confederation, being a member of the Global and European Programme Directors working groups.   You will also be the key spokesperson on international development and humanitarian issues for CIUK and will be responsible for developing important relationships with external stakeholders including key institutional donors, civil society and the private sector.

The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic leadership and management skills. You will have extensive experience working in or with international NGOs, or may bring relevant experience from outside the sector.  You will bring in-depth knowledge of contemporary humanitarian and development issues from working in-country and will have the ability to represent CIUK externally. You will bring strong networks across civil society, the private sector and donors, as well as strong stakeholder management skills. You will be entrepreneurial, a committed team player, influencer and, most importantly of all, align with our mission and values.

Panel interviews will be held on 17th December in London.
