Cats Protection is the UK’s biggest, single animal charity. Our vision is a society where every cat has their best possible life because they are protected, cared for and understood by everyone.

We have over 10.8million cats in the UK and more than a quarter of our households are home to a cat. Yet the experience of our cats throughout the nations is sadly not uniform. Many suffer cruelty, abandonment, poor care and crucially a lack of understanding by the humans around them.

Cats Protection is the UK’s leading cat welfare charity and we have helped an average of 166,000 cats and kittens a year over the last five years throughout the UK through rehoming, neutering and dedicated research on cats’ medical and welfare needs, as well as seeking to educate people of all ages about cats and their care. Over the course of our 95 years, we have been a focal point for those who care about improving the lives of cats and who showcase the extraordinary mutual benefits of the relationship between cats and people. Our organisation’s lifeblood is our people – our 1,000 strong team and our movement of 10,000 volunteers across the UK are all committed champions for cats, helping to lead society towards a richer understanding of all cats as well as providing high quality care for those that need our help.

We are now looking for our next Chief Executive Officer to build on our positive impact and momentum. Working with the Board on the delivery of our mission through our long-term strategy, the incoming Chief Executive will lead an experienced and passionate team into the next stage of our development and impact. We are seeking an experienced, strategic and courageous leader that can help us realise our ambitions. This person will engage with integrity with our key partners, employees and volunteers by embracing our approach of catalysing lasting change for cat welfare and for their owners.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of values driven, creative and collaborative leadership that has delivered measurable impact to support social change. Ideally, this person will have experience of running large, complex organisations and of managing diverse stakeholders, as well as of inspiring and motivating teams. You will be a strong operational leader, networker and communicator, with high integrity and credibility, alongside a deep interest in the promotion of our vision and mission.
