The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) exists to protect consumers and the wider public. It ensures consumers have choice and value for money when they fly and that airspace is used efficiently. The public rightly expects the safety of aviation to be a key priority: the CAA exists to ensure the highest safety standards are maintained, and security risks managed.
The Group Director of Safety and Airspace Regulation plays a crucial role. Reporting to the CEO and leading a team of 400, they will champion safety while providing strategic leadership to ensure that aviation policy continues to evolve in the UK, working with European and global institutions. As well as providing excellent internal leadership, the Group Director will engage effectively with a range of senior stakeholders across all sectors and both nationally and globally.
Candidates will bring a strong aviation safety background. Combining strategic thinking and analytical rigour, candidates will be risk-conscious and confident dealing with major policy issues across a diverse stakeholder group. Decisive in times of uncertainty, they will be excellent and nuanced communicators, capable of forging relationships on a national and international scale.
