Concern Worldwide (UK)

Executive Director

Job Reference XBNGA
Closing Date Wednesday 20 Mar 2024

Given the escalating levels and urgency of global need and Concern’s mission, this leadership role is more important than ever.

Concern Worldwide (UK) is a key part of the Concern Worldwide family and was formally established 20 years ago. We are based in London and Belfast and support the global work of Concern, which has been working to make a world free from poverty, fear and oppression a reality for over 50 years. Our ambition is to mobilise resources, people, decision makers and partners to respond to rising poverty and emergency humanitarian needs, improving the lives of people living in extreme poverty in the world’s poorest and most fragile countries.

Over the lifetime of the current strategic plan, Concern Worldwide (UK) has made real strides in the delivery of that ambition and has become an even more inclusive organisation. We have a solid foundation from which to deliver our overarching strategic goals and ambitions to 2025, to have the greatest possible impact for those furthest behind.

We are now looking for our next Executive Director to lead Concern Worldwide (UK) in charting the best route to realising potential new opportunities and partnerships that will help the charity to achieve its key strategic goals and set our agenda into the future. We are looking for a leader who shares our ambitions and values and can be authentic in advocating for our mission and vision.

We are looking for candidates with a track record of strategic executive leadership, ideally within an international setting. You will be a strong relationship builder, with experience of developing, and sustaining, relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.  We are interested in those with leadership experience in core areas of our work, namely advocacy, influencing and fundraising with a solid understanding of resource mobilisation and capacity building.  Candidates will need to be compelling ambassadors with strong communication skills and the ability to advocate effectively for our cause. We are looking for a collaborative and engaging leader who will motivate and enthuse our team and work effectively with Concern Worldwide colleagues.

Concern has a commitment to increasing diversity in our workforce including in our leadership team; we encourage all qualified candidates, irrespective of gender, ethnicity and origin, disability, political beliefs, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or socio-economic status to apply to become a part of the organisation.
