Director of People & Culture

Job Reference HATSC
Closing Date Friday 05 Apr 2019

The London Ambulance Service does extraordinary work, both on the frontline of emergency services and at the heart of the NHS across the capital, ensuring patients access urgent care in the best, most effective way possible.  After a challenging period two years ago, the London Ambulance Service is improving rapidly: judged to be a “good” service by the Care Quality Commission, its ambition is to be world-class, as our world-class capital city needs.

The London Ambulance Service’s people are at the heart of its ability to continue improving and the Director of People and Culture will take on a critical leadership role, continuing to modernise the organisation’s culture and ways of working, and growing the confidence and capability of an inclusive, diverse workforce.  Building on the successes of the previous incumbent, you will lead the People function, reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive team to deliver culture change, improved employee relations, and greater inclusivity, working with 5,000 professional, committed colleagues at a time of opportunity and challenge for London’s healthcare.  An imaginative, inclusive leader, you will bring experience of effectively leading an organisation through significant people change.

The successful candidate will be an experienced, senior HR leader and as such will bring a demonstrable track record of having led an HR team, contributing to people and organisational strategies at board level in a medium sized company or organisation, or at leadership level in a division of a large company or organisation. S/he will bring evidence of working successfully within a range of organisations and, experience within a number of different sectors would be advantageous.  The ability to work with and manage a wide range of stakeholders will be important. The successful candidate will work collaboratively whilst acting as a role model for the organisation’s values of being respectful and creative, acting with honesty and integrity and learning from one another.
