Elexon
Chair, Stakeholder Advisory Board
Elexon plays a central and critical role at the heart of the wholesale electricity market, administering the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) and supporting the UK’s journey to Net Zero. With responsibilities that range from delivering Market-wide Half Hourly Settlement to providing settlement services for Capacity Market and Contracts for Difference schemes, Elexon ensures accuracy, transparency, and stability across the energy system.
In July 2024, Ofgem appointed Elexon as the market facilitator delivery body for flexibility markets – a pivotal step in enabling clean power by 2030. To support this role, Elexon is establishing a new Stakeholder Advisory Body (SAB). The SAB will ensure strong industry input into Elexon’s work, offering oversight, scrutiny, and advice on delivery plans, budgets, and governance.
Elexon now seeks an independent Chair for the SAB. The Chair will play a vital role in ensuring impartiality, setting the agenda, and presiding over meetings so that discussions are conducted effectively and transparently. They will ensure the SAB fulfils its objectives: holding Elexon accountable, supporting delivery of its mandate, and advising on alignment with national energy policy and regulatory frameworks.
This role requires an exceptional individual with senior industry or commercial experience and a proven record of chairing high-level boards. They will bring strong interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills, along with a deep understanding of governance and stakeholder engagement. A good knowledge of the GB electricity market is desirable. Above all, the Chair must be independent, impartial, and aligned with Elexon’s values of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to Net Zero.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of GB flexibility markets, influencing how the electricity system evolves to meet the challenges of decarbonisation, decentralisation, and digitalisation.
