The Old Royal Naval College is the centrepiece of Maritime Greenwich, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a long and celebrated 500-year history. Our magnificent Baroque buildings and grounds are open to the public and are one of London’s most popular visitor attractions. The Greenwich Foundation for the Old Royal Naval College was established in 1997 as a charity with the aims to preserve and educate. We conserve and protect the magnificent Baroque buildings and grounds of the Old Royal Naval College for present and future generations and provide opportunities for many and diverse audiences to enjoy and learn from its significance.

Our current Chair will be stepping down in the second quarter of 2023 after completing the maximum of two terms with the Foundation. The new Chair will be a highly accomplished individual, with a background that complements the activity of the Foundation, and a deeply held appreciation of the importance of the Old Royal Naval College, its historical significance and the critical role it plays in inspiring audiences young and old, local, national and international. Candidates will ideally have some experience or knowledge of the arts, cultural or heritage sector, an awareness of the public funding landscape, and the network and approach to generate fresh support for the Foundation. Moreover, they should bring natural ambassadorial skills, be willing to represent the Foundation and grow its prominence externally. Candidates should have a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and sound business credentials in order to support the Foundation’s commercial development.
