The three UK Intelligence Agencies help safeguard the UK from threats to national security, operating together to protect the UK and its people. They work to stop terrorist attacks, assassinations, espionage, malign interference and protect our interests overseas to make the UK the safest place to live and work. It is challenging, varied, and meaningful work that you simply won’t find elsewhere.
MI5 employs people from a wide range of backgrounds, with a Headquarters in London and a broader network of hubs across the UK. We have placed a huge emphasis on diversity over the last decade, making valuable strides, but have further to go to become the truly inclusive organisation we want to be.
MI5 is looking for its next Director General Shared Corporate Services to lead the continued transformation of the shared services function in the delivery of high-quality services to all three Agencies. The Director General Shared Corporate Services will report into the head of MI5 but will need to work collaboratively across the three Agencies to transform and deliver high quality services to all three organisations.
This is a challenging and ambitious change leadership and service delivery position. Over the past three years, a new organisation has been formed from the merger of individual agency corporate teams and the foundations have been laid for service delivery. How that organisation delivers its services now needs to be transformed. You will be accountable for that transformation which includes the delivery of a new single shared Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool which will equip the shared corporate services organisation with the tools it needs and will transform how staff across the Agencies manage their people, funding and commercial services. A key element of your role will be cementing an innovative and inclusive working environment that supports the clear vision for a new shared culture.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading the organisation, driving high quality service delivery and performance; building a sense of identity and community; and forging new ways of working across the Agencies through the delivery of the new ERP.
A role model for collaborative leadership, you’ll guide others through ambiguity, and challenge the status quo. Most of all, you’re passionate about bringing real value and benefit to the three Agencies – and, ultimately, to the British public.
