Market Operator Services Limited (MOSL) is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the growing water retail market and delivering innovative solutions to its members. Their strategy is to make the market easier to do business in and deliver value and choice for customers, ultimately at a lower overall cost to members.
Established in 2015 as a not-for-profit organisation, MOSL played a central role in facilitating the market opening in April 2017.
MOSL operate the central IT system and provide governance services through the market codes, on which the market is founded. As a data led organisation, they provide valuable data insights and drive improvement in the market to resolve market frictions.
After a period of significant change, they are now looking to appoint two independent non-executive directors.
Non-executive directors share the collective responsibility of board members for ensuring that the Board of MOSL is successful and effective in setting and implementing an appropriate strategy, and that it remains focused on the key issues facing the industry.
Candidates for the roles should bring board-level experience, with strong business leadership and commercial skills. As strong communicators and collaborators, they will be have the ability to contribute constructively with an appreciation of the ‘customer’ perspective. They will have an understanding of the commercial, governance and regulatory issues in a regulated industry and could bring experience in a number of areas, including but not limited to, finance, strategy, change management, digital and HR.
Experience in professional accounting and/or a financial qualification would be advantageous for one of the roles, and for the other, a more detailed understanding of economics and the working of both regulated and competitive markets would be ideal.
