Profile Books

Profile Books is one of London’s most successful independent publishers. Its authors include some of the best-known names in publishing, including Simon Kuper, Janice Hallett, Mary Beard and Emily Oster.  We were founded in 1996, and have grown rapidly in recently years, now employing 70 people and publishing around 100 new books a year. We have won Independent Publisher of the Year three times.

We are now seeking to recruit a Finance Director to succeed Frances Ford, who is retiring later this year. In addition to assuming full responsibility for the finance function, the successful candidate will make a broader and strategic contribution as part of our main board and will also have responsibility for Human Resources.  A key early aspect of the role will be helping us to implement a new royalties system.

Candidates could come from within the publishing industry or from related sectors; an experience of royalties accounting and system implementation would be highly beneficial. Experience of team management will be important as will a love of books, exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, and a commercial and strategic outlook. Candidates will be fully qualified accountants and have operated at Finance Director or equivalent level in a complex business with a commitment to excellence in all it does.
