RICS is the leading self-regulating professional body in relation to the setting and enforcing of standards associated with land, property, infrastructure and construction. RICS helps to develop surveying professionals around the world, from Shanghai to London and from Sydney to New Delhi, who are literally shaping the world around us. Our global footprint encompasses all of the main financial centres, with a growing presence across EMEA, Asia Pacific and North America, complimenting a strong heritage in the UK.

RICS now seeks a new Chair of the Governing Council. The Governing Council is comprised of 25 RICS members including the Chair, responsible for advancing public trust and confidence in RICS and the profession, ensuring that RICS fulfils its Royal Charter obligations, setting the overall strategy and vision for RICS, and ensuring good overall governance.

The next Chair of the Governing Council will bring senior board level experience having served in a non-executive capacity previously in similarly large, complex, global organisations. They will be a RICS member and bring experience globally from the built and natural environment. The successful candidate will bring strong interpersonal skills to the role, with a diplomatic approach and the ability to build consensus. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the Governing Council is visible and externally facing and engaging, therefore personal qualities of collaboration, inclusivity and integrity will be important.

With a diverse membership from around the world it is important that the Governing Council reflects its members and therefore RICS welcome all applicants and encourages applications from women, people from an ethnic minority, people with disabilities and other underrepresented groups. Given the global nature of the role the time commitment for the role is approximately 80 days per year including international travel. The role is remunerated.
