Sheffield Theatres’ three-auditoria complex in the heart of Sheffield is the largest producing theatre complex outside London. Nationally recognised for its excellent production values, high calibre casting and world-class creative teams, it attracts audiences of around 400,000 each year. The diverse programme of bold and original produced work is complemented by the presentation of the best UK touring productions, Sheffield Theatres being a key venue for the UK’s network of commercial producers.

After a highly successful 8-year tenure, Rob Hastie is stepping down and Sheffield Theatres now seeks candidates for its new Artistic Director.

The Artistic Director will be responsible for establishing the artistic vision, generating, producing and presenting an exciting and aspirational programme for the Crucible and Playhouse that enthuses both current and new audiences while ensuring the organisation maintains its position as the country’s pre-eminent regional producing theatre. As a member of the Executive Team, they will also participate in the strategic leadership of the organisation, embedding and sustaining creative excellence, inspiring staff and creative teams, and creating opportunities to grow and coach talent.

The ideal candidate will bring an exemplary track record in theatre that has made a positive impact on audiences, critics and the theatre industry in the UK or beyond; a collaborative approach to leadership; excellent communication skills; and a demonstrable commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion.
